Custom Orthotics

A foot pad or heel insert purchased at your local pharmacy or sporting goods store is an orthotic device. So is a custom-molded, individually designed shoe insert or ankle brace. Orthotic devices like these are frequently used to treat various conditions of the foot and ankle. They are often very effective in relieving common complaints.

General FAQs

  • Orthotics are prescription medical shoe inserts that you wear inside your shoes to correct biomechanical foot issues such as problems with how you walk, stand, or run.

  • Orthotics are intended to correct an abnormal or irregular walking pattern, by altering slightly the angles at which the foot strikes a walking or running surface. They can also help with foot pain caused by medical conditions such as diabetes, plantar fasciitis, bursitis, and arthritis.

  • In most cases, your body needs two to four weeks to become accustomed to any type of orthotics. That means you should plan to wear them regularly so your body can adjust. For further questions, contact our experts.
